GES:
World of Organic Waste

2020

World of Organic Waste was an interactive kiosk by M1 Interactive and GES for Discovery Cube Orange County, a children’s science center and museum in Santa Ana, California. Players first learned how to compost waste and then competed to create an ideal compost pile based on the ratio of Carbon to Nitrogen.

The installation was a carnival-style set-up with seats for five players. Players could choose to play the game in either in English or Spanish. After all players joined, they watched an instruction video and then competed in a minute of gameplay. The game alternated between aerobic compost (worms) and vermicompost (microbes).

I managed this project through all stages of design and development. I represented the project on client meetings and created weekly feedback reports and demo videos. I owned the software development of this project and wrote all parts of app structure, flow, TCP connections, and gameplay. I integrated designers’ assets into Unity from Adobe Illustrator and created 2-D animations for them in Adobe After Effects.
