In Super Nintendo World, Bowser Jr. has stolen the Golden Mushroom from Princess Peach. You must complete a series of mini-game challenges to unlock the keys to Bowser Jr.’s castle before you can attempt the Bowser Jr. “boss battle” in an interactive projection-based game. In the game, you use your shadow to face off against Bowser Jr. and his shadow decoys by jumping to hit blocks, hitting falling Bob-ombs, and throwing fireballs. If you win, you’ll reclaim a golden mushroom that Bowser Jr. stole and return it to Princess Peach.

I refactored, updated, and installed the “Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown” game for Universal Studios Hollywood after its initial installation in Universal Studios Japan. I rebuilt the multi-user skeleton tracking platform and its implementation within the game using NVIDIA’s Maxine SDK. I spent several months onsite in Los Angeles installing, testing, and upgrading the game inside the park.
